still on the topic of motivation/inspiration

but in this case, the motivation to exercise, to get fit. i've recently started working out {again}. i go through these phases, where i am so motivated that i know i can reach my goal! and some how, i always fall short and give up. until i enter another phase.

so, recently i've been pumping my crazy legs on our exercise bike. i think it's one of the best pieces of exercise equipment ever invented! i love it! my motivation has been music. i don't know about you, but i like to get aggressive when i workout. i swear, it's the only way that gets me through my workout. and by aggressive, i mean listening to hardcore rap music like nwa or tupac. this is the kind of music i can only listen to with my headphones on, when the boys are asleep and there couldn't be any possible contact with them. honestly, sometimes i feel like this guy:

i know, kind of crazy, aren't i?... haha!

so, what's your motivation to workout? and what do you listen to or watch when you workout?

motivation

what do you do for stitchy motivation/inspiration?
i personally like to browse through the embroidery pool or the vintage pattern pool. sometimes, i like to visit my flickr contacts and look at their stitchy projects for motivation.

i've been wanting for a very long time, to embroider some pillowcases for all three of my sisters. for some reason i kept putting that idea off. i just didn't know what to embroider, there are so many beautiful patterns outs there. until i came across this pretty on floresita's embroidey set. luckily, i had this pattern so i got to work!

so, here's the first set:
i don't know who will get this set yet. i think i'll wait till i'm done with all three and maybe draw names out of a hat :)
and even though this is not a sublime stitching pattern, i think i also owe some of my motivation to jenny hart and the embroidered effects book, all the pretty floss i've been buying lately and the chilly weather. all of those things are so good combined :)

thank you all for the inspiration!

and speaking of sublime stitching, have you checked out the new patterns at sublime stitching?!... simply awesomeness!

so, is there anything motivating you to do anything crafty these days?

cariño mio : my dearest

after i left you on friday, i turned on the news to hear that one of my favorite folk singers was in critical condition. her name is mercedes sosa. i first heard her beautiful voice when i was eighteen years old. at a time when i was struggling with so many personal emotions. the end of high school, the begging of college and the emotional roller coaster a first love can bring. at the end of the day, mercedes was always there, in my room, waiting to sing to me and console me."todo cambia" : "everything changes"
this was probably my very favorite song of hers at that time.

when i heard the news, so many thoughts rumbled in my head. so, i picked up my needle and kept stitching. she was nicked named by her followers as "la negra" for her black hair and her indian ancestry.

the sad news is that mercedes sosa passed away early this morning. adios mi negrita, your songs helped me grow and they will forever stay in my heart. descansa en paz cariño mio. rest in peace my dearest mercedes.
